Ostara Altar

Clear any altars you may have had from a previous sabbat, or if you didn’t already have an altar, clear a space for one.

Make an Ostara altar by creating a dedicated space with corresponding items & elements.

Flowers & botanicals, eggs, hares, butterflies, candles, and pastel pink, purple, green, yellow and blue colours are some ideas for elements you could include.

Ostara feels like a breath of fresh air. The dark half of the year is behind us, and the promise of spring that we felt back at Imbolc is finally here. We meet this time of balance, of equal day and night, with soft reverence, and revitalization as the sun's light now grows longer from this point forward, and we are ushered into the lighter half of the year. This is a time of new beginnings, creativity, and growth. A time for planting seeds and nurturing new ideas. A time to clear the staleness of winter and find renewal. Ostara is brimming with beauty and potential. Here are some easy ideas for how to celebrate this sabbat and the spring equinox.

Spring Clean

Clear away any lingering stagnant energy from the winter season with a thorough spring clean.

This could look like sweeping, dusting, opening windows to invite the fresh air in, reorganizing things, and letting go of things.

A spring clean can take both a physical form, like cleaning your home, and a mental or metaphysical form, like cleansing & recalibrating your mental, emotional, and spiritual state of being.

Nature Bathe

With spring comes nicer weather to start spending more time outdoors again.

Get outside and immerse yourself in nature - bathe in the air of the forest, the ocean, the river, the earth herself, however and wherever you can.

Attune yourself to the energy of nature all around you, and allow yourself to embody the spirit of spring.

Make the first preparations for your gardens this season.

Take note of what you plan to plant, organize your garden materials, and prepare your garden beds, boxes or pots.

Maybe you’d like to grow a magical herb garden, beautiful floral arrangements, or a nourishing vegetable patch, whatever it is you desire to grow, now is the time to take the first steps.

Arts & Crafts

Tap into the creative energy and inspiration of the season by engaging in the arts & crafts.

This can take forms such as drawing, painting, poetry, photography, sculpture, land art, dancing, singing, scrap booking, crocheting or knitting, and so much more.

This time of year is when creative energy begins to rise and flow again, attune with that in whatever ways that you feel drawn to.

Feed the Birds

Give back to nature by offering food for your local birds.

Fill feeders with seeds or suet cakes, or make your own DIY feeders with some basic materials and foods.

Then you can also find enjoyment in the simple moments of watching all of the beautiful birds come and go from your feeders.

Candle Spell

Candle magic is a great go to for any sabbat.

Cast an Ostara candle spell that taps into the energies and themes of the sabbat; renewal, balance, fertility, and growth.

Make it as simple or complex as you’d like. You could incorporate ingredients such as corresponding herbs, colours and symbols, and craft an invocation, blessing, or petition to go with it.

Affirmations for Ostara

I plant the seeds of my dreams with trust, nurture their growth with patience, and meet their fruition with gratitude.

I approach new beginnings with confidence, and allow myself to follow through in my own divine rhythm.

I welcome fresh opportunities, growth, and positive change with an open heart.

My energy is clear, vitalized, balanced, and free flowing.

Blessed Ostara, witches.
